Home
Friday mornings, Brian would pack his bag and leave home for the weekend. From the office it was straight to PIT and if US Airways 3516 was on time, he'd be at Justin's door for a fashionably late dinner. Fifty seven hours, countless condoms and at least one shopping trip later, he'd be on United 4403, headed home again. As frantic as the schedule seemed to outsiders, Brian always returned home invigorated, ready for another week of success at Kinnetik. His weekends with Justin in New York left him feeling more energized than anything his disco-pharmacologist had ever cooked up.
~*~
Months later, Brian had stopped packing on Fridays. All those shopping expeditions on Fifth Ave had built up an enviable wardrobe which occupied more that his fair share of Justin's closet. His shampoo stood alongside Justin's in the shower and his new electric toothbrush was permanently plugged in next to the wash stand. Justin didn't let Brian forget this "invasion" of his apartment, negotiating sexual favors, dinners and entry to the best clubs in return for every extra inch of space needed to accommodate Brian's purchases. They'd never openly admit it, but they both saw it as a win-win situation.
~*~
After a year of commuting, Brian boards United 4403 with an overwhelming sense of melancholy. A mountain of paperwork awaits him at Kinnetik, and when he returns to the loft at the end of the day, it'll be lifeless and cold.
The Loft. He used those words more often than not, now. Brian wasn't sure when it happened, the change was so subtle, but somewhere between LaGuardia and the Loft, or PIT and Justin's apartment, home had shifted some 300 miles.
That Friday, Brian took the day off and packed one last time. He was finally going home to Justin.

You go, Justin! :)

Perfect. I love the way we went from Brian leaving what he considers home at the start of the story to him deciding that home is where ever Justin is. ♥
Lovely userpics, too.
