There it was again. The glint of wheat colored blond hair, popping up in down in the crowd. Brian couldn’t explain what drew him to the blond. He definitely wasn’t his usual type. His body wasn’t bad, but it lacked the clear muscle definition of the trick he’d invited up to the office earlier that evening.
Ten! Nine! Eight! Seven! Six! Five! Four! Three! Two! One! …Happy New Year
Brian watched as flecks of black, silver and gold mylar confetti and curling streamers fell from the steel rafters onto the capacity crowd packing the dance floor of Babylon – onto the beaming blond who was euphoric in a natural, un-pharmaceutically or alcohol enhanced state.
Another year. Inwardly, he felt a clench in his gut. Outwardly, his body language betrayed nothing.
Brian felt a bump at his elbow, as Kinnetik’s faithful CFO joined him on the catwalk above the dance floor.
“Ted.” Brian acknowledged with a nod. “Where’s Blake?”
Ted nodded to the dance floor. “Down on the dance floor with Emmett and Drew.”
Brian followed Ted’s nod, to see Blake dancing to the driving rhythm of the thumpa-thumpa. “Why are you up here, when he’s down there?”
“I just came to check in before we leave. I spoke to Manny, our receipts are at least 15% ahead of last year, all the bars have had a pickup and cash is deposited in the office safe – I really think we should reconsider going cashless…”
“I’m not sure the go-go dancers want to hang chip readers on their attributes…” Brian snarked.
Ted gave a mirthless laugh, “yeah, some customer may choose to swipe or insert in the wrong slot… Anyway, we’re heading out to meet Michael and Ben at the diner.”
“Are they sneaking out on the littlest hustler and his girlfriend? Shouldn’t they be worried about the hetero sex which will surely take place once Ben and Mikey are out the door.”
“I guess they’re willing to chance it. How about you? You willing to get out of here?”
Brian’s ignored Ted, distracted by blond who had intermittently been grabbing his attention all night. A rather aggressive dance partner pursued the blond as he tried to cross the floor.
“Bri? Should we save a seat for you?”
Brian didn’t like the way the dance partner continued to advance on the retreating blond. Brian scanned the floor and signaled one of the bar’s security team. The security team member quickly stepped into action, efficiently cutting off the unwanted advances of the dance partner.
Brian watched the blond make his way through the masses to the edge of the dance floor on the opposite side of the room from Babylon’s entrance, hidden behind a curtain of hanging chains.
“Bri?”
Brian was on the move. He turned and threw over his shoulder, “not tonight. Wish the boys a Happy New Year for me – tell them something came up.”
“Sure, Bri.” Ted’s response was lost as Brian disappeared down the stairs from the catwalk into the crowd.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Fuck! he was on the wrong side of the bar. Justin cursed his luck. At least the Neanderthal who had been dogging him had disappeared. Maybe he could skirt the perimeter and get to the exit.
“Hey.” A tall chestnut-haired man with golden green eyes was suddenly in front of him.
While Justin wasn’t interested in anything more than leaving the bar, he couldn’t help the slight intake of breath. The man was beautiful – slim, tall, handsome. Too bad he was leaving.
“Hey. Sorry, normally I’d love to chat, but I’m heading out… if I can get to the exit.”
“Where’re you headed?”
“Huh? Oh, no place special.”
Brian grabbed Justin’s elbow and steered him to the staff entrance hidden behind the bar. “I can change that.”
“Hey! You can’t…” before Justin could protest further, he found himself in the alleyway, around the corner from the bar’s entrance. “I guess you can – don’t they get mad at you?”
“No, they know me.”
“Must be nice.”
Brian moved them in the direction of his personal parking space and opened the door of the green Corvette.
“Nice. Vintage.”
Brian got in and slowly navigated down the alley avoiding the holiday revelers. He turned onto Liberty Avenue, but found it blocked by more merry-makers. With a muttered curse, he turned onto a side street and made a circuitous route toward Tremont.
“Uh, you can drop me off anywhere.”
“In a hurry to go home?”
“Not really, but I’m sure you have things to do, maybe go to bed…”
“Preferably not alone.”
“Stop! Let me out.”
Brian stopped the car. “Look, this isn’t exactly the best neighborhood. Let me drop you off at your place or somewhere a bit less… well, somewhere safer.”
Justin looked at the chestnut-haired man. He had stopped the car when he asked him. And he wasn’t pushing to him to go home with him. Justin nodded, “Okay, maybe a place where I can get a cup of coffee or something to eat?”
Brian softly snorted a laugh, “I know just the place.” He put the car in gear and headed to the Liberty Diner.
Brian pulled into the alley behind the diner.
“Oh, you don’t need to park – I can jump out.”
Brian pulled into his space and turned off the engine.
“You seem to have the magic touch when it comes to parking spaces.”
There are some perks to being the owner. “Something like that.” Brian exited the car, locked his door and came around to Justin’s side and opened his door. “We’re here. I can spring for a cup of coffee. Unless…”
Justin alighted from the car quickly, “No! I mean yes – I mean, I think I’d like that. I’ve never been here – is the food good?”
“I wouldn’t go that far. I’m Brian, by the way.”
“Justin.”
Brian locked the door and they headed into the diner.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Yoo-hoo!” Emmet called across the diner “Brian!”
“A friend of yours?” Justin asked.
“On occasion. We may as well join them, there isn’t a lot of seating here otherwise.” Brian snagged a couple chairs from against the wall and added them to the end of the back booth where Emmett, Ted and Michael and their better halves were in residence.
“Well, well, well, aren’t you a cutie – who are you and how did you meet the big bad wolf?”
Brian rolled his eyes, as Justin answered Emmett. “I’m Justin – Justin Taylor.”
Brian’s eyes widened slightly but he kept quiet. Instead, he grabbed a couple menus and handed one to Justin.
“Well, I’m Emmett, and this is Drew…”. Emmett made introductions around the table, ending up back at Brian seated next to Justin. “And of course, you know Brian.”
By this time Debbie had finally made her way over to the table. “What’ll it be boys?” The gang put in their orders, Brian ordered a cup of coffee, leaving only Justin to place his request.
“You must be new – you’re cute. I haven’t seen you here before, and I’d remember. What can I get you?”
“I’ll have a cheeseburger deluxe with fries and a milkshake.”
“You plan on sleeping after a meal like that?” Brian asked astonished.
“Don’t go giving Sunshine a hard time…”
“Sunshine?!” Brian and Justin both asked simultaneously.
“Sure, look at that hair and that smile. Besides, it’s good to see a man with an appetite for food. You should get some of your protein from a plate.” Debbie laughed at her joke. “I’ll put this in and be back with your drinks.” She headed off to the kitchen.
“Is she always like that?”
“Yeah, but you have to love her.” The man named Michael responded.
“Water, water, Diet Coke, water, Pepsi, water, coffee, and your milkshake.”
There was a chorus of thank yous ending with Michael’s “Thanks, Ma.”
“She’s your mother?”
“Yep.”
Food arrived and conversation temporarily halted as folks got down to eating. They discussed the evening’s events at Babylon, Hunter’s new girlfriend, Ben and Michael’s upcoming visit to see JR in Canada, Ted and Blake’s recent trip to New York, Drew’s game coverage for the playoffs and Super Bowl and of course Emmett kept everyone entertained with stories from his party planning business.
“Well, we must be going…” Brian stood and dropped four twenties on the table, estimating that should cover the bill.
“But you just got here,” Michael protested.
“It’s 2:30am, some of us need our beauty sleep.”
“Not you,” Justin murmured not realizing he’d voiced what he was thinking.
“But we haven’t gotten a chance to know Justin!” Emmett pointed out.
But Brian and Justin were both on their feet. “And whose fault is that?” Brian smirked. “Later boys.” He slung an arm around Justin and steered him to the door.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“I like your friends. Their fun and not pretentious.”
“You spend a lot of time around pretentious assholes?”
“More than my fair share.”
“Me too.” Brian opened the door for Justin. “It comes with the territory. I like my friends as well – just don’t let them know I said so.”
Brian slid behind the wheel. “Where am I dropping you off?”
Justin considered. He could go back to his hotel room… “I’m staying at the Mansions on Fifth.”
“Isn’t it a bit late to be tip-toeing through the lobby. It’s a nice property, but not exactly what I would have thought of for an up and coming artiste.”
So Brian had figured out who he was – must have been the last name. “My agent booked me in there – I don’t like sterile chain hotels.”
“Next time have her book you into Ace – it’s a former YMCA, décor is modern and minimalist. Four Stars.”
“I’ll let her know.”
“I don’t suppose I could interest you in a drink?”
With his stomach full, and having met Brian’s friends, Justin felt a lot more comfortable with this handsome stranger. He could go for a drink, and if it led to something more, he might be interested. It had been a while…
“Sure.”
Brian steered the Corvette down Liberty to Tremont.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The first thing Justin noted as Brian secured the Loft door and set the alarm was one of his own paintings over the entertainment center. It was one of his recent works – in the last year. Eight feet by eight feet, slashes of color in red, orange, bronze and gold - it would dominate most walls, but here in the loft with its the exposed brick and open ceiling, it grounded the entertainment area and looked right at home.
Justin crossed the room to look at the painting. He didn’t turn back even as he spoke to Brian. “You have me at a disadvantage, you obviously know who I am, but I don’t know who you are. Brian…”
“Kinney. About that drink – choose your poison.”
“I’m good with whatever you’re having.” Justin racked his brain trying to think where he’d heard the name. Kinney, Kinney… Kinnetek! A local entrepreneur. His mother spoke highly of him. “My mom knows you! She found you the office space for your advertising agency!”
“Ah, yes, Jennifer. She and her agency are doing quite well these days.” Brian poured out three fingers each of Beam and joined Justin in front of the painting. He handed the artist his glass and gently clinked the leaded crystal tumblers in a salute. “I saw this and knew I had to have it.”
Like me? Justin thought. He sipped thoughtfully at his whiskey as he reacquainted himself with his painting. That was the trouble with being an artist. You created something, you sold it, and then you never knew what happened to it.
Brian thought the painting was exquisite, as was the artist. Suddenly, he wanted to feel what Justin was feeling about his painting. Lightly, he set both their glasses on the entertainment center and moved to take Justin into his arms. Brian stared into the depths of Justin’s blue eyes, looking for a signal to be sure he hadn’t overstepped any boundaries.
Justin’s hand slid over Brian’s shoulder and up the back of his neck to bury in the deep chestnut hair, push Brian’s head closer.
Suddenly they both knew. Brian tilted his head and with an open mouth, devoured Justin’s lips, easily separating them and moving in so their tongues played against one another. Justin was consumed.
It could have been minutes it could have been seconds, the kisses came hot and fast and thorough, mapping the landscape of each other’s mouths.
“Fuck! You taste like cheeseburger with a whiskey chaser.”
“Good thing the onions were grilled!” Justin laughed and pulled his shirt over his head. He moved in to start on Brian’s buttons.
Brian hooked a finger behind Justin’s belt buckle and pulled him up the stairs to the bedroom.
“Freud would have a field day with this.” Justin took in the pedestal bed underneath the blue lights. “I mean, the symbolism isn’t lost on you here, is it?”
“Who the fuck do you think designed it?”
“My, my, that’s some ego.”
“It isn’t ego, if it’s the truth.”
Brian pulled Justin in for another soul shattering kiss. Coming up this time, Justin found his jeans and underwear around his ankles. He toed off his sneakers and socks, then proceeded to climb across the bed toward the headboard.
Brian made short work of what was left of his clothes and soon joined the younger man on the bed. The kisses had left him wanting more, but he hadn’t enjoyed a kiss like that in a while. They had all night, why not savor the moment?
Brian littered kisses along Justin’s shoulders, making his way to Justin’s neck. He could feel the younger man responding. Nibbling up Justin’s neck to his ear, Brian could feel Justin hunching his shoulders, curling his toes and a reflexive vibrating along his leg. Brian whispered in his ear, “You like that?”
“I was pretty sure you could tell.” Justin’s pressed his body closer to Brian’s.
Brian continued his onslaught, moving from side to side, leaving love bites along the way. “Good thing it’s winter, you’re going to need a turtleneck tomorrow.”
Justin laughed. “I have a black one, it makes me look very artist-like.”
Brian grinned and shook his head. In a surprise move, he flipped Justin over and began a leisurely exploration of Justin’s spine. Brian licked his way down each vertebrae until he reached Justin’s coccyx and something he had somehow missed in all their interaction – Justin’s amazing ass.
Brian smiled. No bounty such as this should go wasted.
Justin had been thoroughly enjoying Brian’s leisurely explorations. He preened and purred and stretched and rubbed with each advance. It had been a long time, but even so, he rarely experienced such a talented and engaging lover. This was a hell of a lot better than going back to his hotel room and taking things in hand for himself. He rolled his shoulders and sighed. This was heaven.
All of a sudden the hand on his ass, which had been rubbing him in the most delightful way, parted his ass and a warm tongue insinuated itself along the fissure between.
“Oh… my… God!”
Brian gave Justin’s ass a swipe. “I take it you enjoy rimming?”
Justin was almost comical in the nodding of his head. “Yes! Yes, please! Oh… yeeesssssss.”
Brian’s ministrations were soft, and gentle and exciting and undeniably hot. Justin worried he wouldn’t last.
“Bri—an… stop… please.”
Brian raised his head. “You aren’t enjoying yourself?”
Justin shook his head. “No, it’s not that, it just that… well if you keep that up… I won’t be able to… to…”
In a flash, Justin found himself on his back and Brian over him. Their bodies pressed together, their cocks rubbing against each other.
“Condom?”
Brian nodded and grabbed one from a bowl on the bedside table. He tore open the package and handed the circle of latex to Justin. “Go ahead, slip it on my dick.”
As he was rolling the condom onto Brian, Justin heard the unmistakable snap of lube bottle and felt the cool gel as Brian began to prepare him. As with every other act in the bedroom, Brian was practiced, skillful and undeniably hot. Brian lifted one of Justin’s legs to his shoulder as he gently eased into the younger man.
“oomph!” Justin breathed out at the intrusion.
“Okay?”
Justin nodded, “Yes, you’re bigger than… I expected.”
Brian smiled a toothy grin, “Hold still a minute, you’ll get used to it.”
Justin knew he was right. He tried to relax, he leaned back onto the bed. Brian wrapped the leg on his shoulder around his waist and let his body lean into Justin’s. He began raining kisses along the younger man’s shoulder making his way to Justin’s mouth. Nearly there, Brian had to shift and seat himself more fully to reach Justin’s mouth. Justin murmured encouragement, and began to move under Brian, urging him on. And so the dance began.
Justin opened himself up and Brian began a slow thrusting. Each movement brought both men pleasure. Sweat ran down Justin’s face as his body reached for illusive completion. Brian above him, biceps tight as they held up his body, as he thrust over and over, leaning down to kiss Justin when their bodies aligned. Their cadence grew faster and more frenzied, Brian stimulated Justin’s prostate on each stroke now as they climbed to completion. Brian thrust and thrust and thrust once more, hurling Justin over the edge, only to follow him as they tumbled together into the beyond.
Brian only managed to shift his torso from Justin and planted his head in the pillow, he drew long, heavy breathes.
“Fuck! That was good.”
Justin just nodded in agreement as his chest rose and fell.
A few minutes later, Brian shifted and discarded the condom. He gathered a sheet over their cooling bodies and turned on his side to sleep.
Justin still on his back looked to the pillow beside him, to Brian. “Happy New Year.”
“MMmmm-hummm.” Brian shifted in his sleep, his arm gathered Justin close. “Go to sleep. We’ll have to see if we can do better in the morning.”
“Better?!”
“Go to sleep, Sunshine.”

Date: 2019-01-03 01:04 pm (UTC)I LOVE how you used so many memorable canon compliant moments in this AU.
I love the premise of Justin being a well none artist who spends New Year with the very dashing Mr. Kinney :)
ETA:
I usually never pimp my stories when I comment on other fellow writers stories but... when your Justin mentioned he was staying at the Mansions on Fifth I couldn't believe it. Call it coincidence but I actually used the same place as one of the main locations of an AU I wrote a few months ago.
