TITLE: Encounters: A Mystery, Told in Drabbles
GIFT REQUEST: Brian/Justin. Some angst, some hurt/comfort... With a happy ending for the boys. It could be cancer, or a big fight.... let's see what the author's muse has to say :)
NOTE: My muse is a bit of a flake and the fic she insisted on writing has very little angst and no hurt/comfort. I hope it makes you smile anyway.
~*~ 1. ~*~
“They squeed at me,” Justin said. He slammed the door to the loft shut.
Brian looked up from his laptop. “What the fuck? What’d you say?”
“I said a bunch of girls just squeed at me.” He sounded pissed off.
Brian looked him over, his cheeks reddened by the cold, his blond hair ruffled by the wind. “I can understand that.”
“Thank God I was standing next to the Jeep. I was able to get in and drive off before they got to me.”
Brian blinked. “Before they…what?”
“They were running after me and screaming, ‘There he is! It’s him.’”
~*~ 2. ~*~
“Do teenage girls run after you screaming often?”
“Don’t make jokes. It wasn’t funny. In fact, it was kind of fucking scary.”
“If you say so.”
“You don’t fucking believe me? Damn it, Brian….”
“Calm down. I believe you. It’s just that I’m Skyping something much more interesting.”
Justin walked around to look over Brian’s shoulder. “Oh, yeah. He is very, very interesting.”
“His name is Dmitri, and he’s looking for a threesome. There’s just one problem: he’s a recent immigrant, and his English isn’t very good.”
Justin grinned, a big mischievious grin. “I guess we just won’t talk much!”
~*~ 3. ~*~
Brian shut the refrigerator door as Justin walked into the loft. He had a beer in his hand. “Justin, do you remember that time last week when the girls attacked you?”
“Yeah. That was the night we fucked Dmitri.”
“Right. Well, this time it was me and it wasn’t teenage girls. It was adult women…and not that young, either.”
“You’re kidding, right?”
“I was getting out of the car, and this bunch of women saw me. One of them gave a shriek and said, ‘That’s him, isn’t it?’ Then they all made little shrieking noises and held onto each other.”
~*~ 4. ~*~
“That’s weird…and kinda like the girls. So what did you do?”
“I was about a block away from here, so I started for home."
“Like me.”
“Not like you. I was calm. Then one of them yelled, ‘Brian…wait!’”
Justin’s mouth dropped open. “You’re fucking kidding! She knew your name? Did you know her?”
“I didn’t recognize any of them. Never saw them before in my life.”
“So what did you do? Did you stop?”
“I just kept walking. They were following me, calling ‘Brian, Brian!’ One of them yelled that they really wanted my autograph. What the fuck’s that about?”
~*~ 5. ~*~
“It’s like we’re being stalked,” Justin said.
“By women,” Brian said. “Or girls, in your case. If I’m going to be stalked, I want to be stalked by hot, horny guys.”
Justin grinned at him.
Brian quirked a smile back. “Or hot, horny twinks with blond hair.”
“You know what, you want to find out why they’re after you? Next time, wait for them. When they catch up with you, ask them.”
“No fucking way!”
“Yeah, me neither. What are we going to do about it?”
“I’m going to Woody’s, and have a couple of beers.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
~*~ 6. ~*~
Emmett took a sip of his Mojito. “You guys don’t know why you’re being stalked?”
“And you do?” Justin asked.
Emmett leaned back in his chair and scrutinized them. “Yeah, I think I do.”
Brian stopped casing the bar and said, “Well?”
Emmett sighed. “I’m guessing you haven’t seen Showtime’s new series?”
Both Brian and Justin looked at him blankly. Emmett said, “You know, y’all should take a break from fucking every so often and watch some TV. The show is called Queer as Folk, and it’s about a bunch of gay guys in a neighborhood a lot like this.”
~*~ 7. ~*~
“And that results in women stalking Brian and me…?”
“The two main characters look a lot like you two.”
Brian stared at Emmett. “Are you saying those women thought I play a character on a TV show?”
Emmett nodded.
“But how did they know my name?”
“I forgot to tell you. On the show, you’re named Brian and Justin!”
“What the fuck! Is that even legal?”
“Y’know, I think you must have fucked someone on the show…or at least he was in your loft which means you probably fucked him.”
Brian snarled, “Wha-at?”
“Your loft is on the show, too.”
~*~ 8. ~*~
All three fell silent briefly. Brian took a couple of swigs of beer, while Justin stared at him thoughtfully. Finally, Justin said, “Do you remember those two old guys we took home about a year ago?”
“Old guys? No.”
“They brought along a great cognac, and we got our dicks sucked, but mostly they wanted to talk, remember?”
“Yeah, it’s coming back. They loved our stories…how we met, problems we had…they were a great audience.” Brian pulled his lips over his teeth. “What the hell were their names?”
“Ron and Don…Ron and Dan? Something like that. Said they were writers.”
~*~ 9. ~*~
Emmett said, “If they’re writers, they’re writing your life…and getting paid for it.”
“Using our names, using the loft…how close to my loft is the TV version?”
“Pretty damn close, right down to the guava juice in the refrigerator.”
“Fuck. They better not be using our last names, too!”
Emmett shook his head, “They aren’t. It’s Kinney and Taylor, not O’Malley and Jordan.”
“We should sue them. It’s just wrong,” Brian said.
Justin nodded agreement. “But what reason do we have?”
“They’re using our life, they aren’t paying us, and we may have to give up threesomes. That's enough reasons.”
