Gift #20

TO: [livejournal.com profile] netlagd
FROM: [livejournal.com profile] xheartrockx
TITLE: on the first day of christmas (aka 5 things happened on christmas, 1 on New Year’s)
GIFT REQUEST: Fic fluff/schmooop, AU, canon-compliant, humor, brian/Justin
NOTE: it’s the first fic I’ve writting in his fandom since last year. I hope it’s not too OOC. Happy Holidays :)

1
“There’s going to be a few changes around here,” Brian says as he lights a cigarette.

“You’re going to quit smoking in bed?” Returning from the bathroom, Justin slumps on the mattress next to him.

“Nice try, sunshine. You don’t mind it if it’s weed.” Brian gives him a pointed look, eyebrow raised. “But no, that’s not what I meant.”

“Then, pray tell, what do you mean?” Justin leans into him and kisses the already sore spot on Brian’s collarbone where he had bitten down just a few minutes a ago.

For a second, Brian’s thought process falters and his cock stirs yet again, defying his fatigue and bone-deep satisfaction. He clears his throat before he can speak again. “I mean… I want you to move in.”

Justin doesn’t stop. Instead, he trails more kisses down the middle of Brian’s chest. “I already live here.”

“Au contraire. You stay over more often than you stay at your place, but you’re still paying rent for that hole in the wall.”

“So?”

“So, I want you to move in. For good. Put your name on the lease, too.”

Finally, Justin pulls back to look at him. “You’re serious.” It’s not a question.

“Fucking right I am.”

“And you really want this?”

Brian looks at him, annoyed and impatient. “I wouldn’t fuck you six ways to Sunday on a regular basis if I wasn’t. Why do you keep asking?”

“Because--” Justin kisses his chest again, trying to appease him. “--you and I don’t exactly have the best of track records when it comes to living together.”

“That was when we were young and inexperienced.”

“Right. I may have been that. You were just…”

“One more word from you and the offer is off the table.”

Justin grins at him. “Then my one more word is ‘yes’.”

2
“When are you going to be home tonight?”

“Don’t know. Late.”

Justin’s shoulders sag. “It’s Christmas tomorrow. If your clients don’t have a campaign now…”

“There are other important things besides Christmas,” Brian snaps as he shrugs into his coat.

“Brian, are you alright?” Justin asks, slightly alarmed by the gruff tone of Brian’s words.

“Of course I am.” Before he heads for the door, Brian walks up to where Justin is sitting at the counter, sorting through a pile of Christmas cards. “Don’t worry.”

“Always do.” Justin tries for a smile but fails.

Brian presses a quick kiss to his temple. “Talk to you tonight.”

*

True to his words, Brian does come home late that night, looking exhausted. He leaves his coat, shoes and briefcase by the door, immediately heading to the fridge for a beer.

“You look like shit,” Justin greets him, buried in a heap of wrapping paper.

“Fuck you.”

“Okay, tell me. What the fuck is going on?”

Brian pulls a folded up envelope from his pocket and hands it to Justin.

“Dr. Obermann? Why were you seeing your oncologist?”

“Because my podiatrist was busy.” Brian deadpans but sobers quickly. “I had my annual check-up.”

“You could have told me.” Justin looks at him but can’t read Brian.

“Because that would have made you go less mother hen on me?” He gestures at the envelope. “Open it.”

“I want to hear it from you,” Justin challenges. “This means nothing if you can’t tell me yourself.”

Brian hold his gaze for a long moment then takes another long pull from his beer. “Ten years. Cancer free.”

Justin stares at him. “Fuck you, Brian.”

“What? I thought you would be happy then I’m not croaking just yet.”

“It always has to be like this with you, doesn’t it? Always a show, a drama. You can’t just be a normal person and talk to me about these things.” Justin tosses a foil ribbon he’s been meaning to stick on one of the gifts into the pile of paper. He brushes past Brian towards the door and is already in his jacket when Brian catches up to him.

“Where are you going? Don’t you want to celebrate?”

“When you start growing a pair.”

The door slams shut behind Justin and Brian’s fist slams into the door. “Little too late for that, sunshine.”

3
“I want to fuck you raw.”

“You’re always so festive.”

Brian looks up from where he is licking a path down Justin’s spine. “I can’t think of a better gift.”

Justin shifts out of his embrace and turns onto his back. “You’re serious.”

“If I had a dollar for every time you questioned my motives…”

“You do know what this means, right?”

With a frustrated groan, Brian pulls back from him. “I am familiar with the concept.”

“No fucking around with other people.”

“Last time I slept with anyone that wasn’t you was… what year is it?”

For a long moment, Justin looks at him, then a grin spreads on his face. “Let’s do it.”

“Do you know what it means?” Brian challenges, not quite immune to Justin’s smile.

As an answer, Justin pushes him onto his back, climbing astride his lap, immediately claiming that particular spot on Brian’s neck.

“We’d have to get tested.”

“And re-tested after six months,” Justin says against his skin. “I did do my homework.”

“It’s a huge commitment.”

“You brought it up.”

Brian’s hand goes to the back of Justin’s neck to pull him up for a kiss. “Let’s schedule it for next week.”

4
“We should have a baby.” Justin has his face smushed into the pillow, his words almost inaudible.

“I don’t think it’s going to work like this.” Brian’s reply is equally garbled as he thrusts into Justin in a quick rhythm.

“Surrogate.”

Brian doesn’t reply. His pace stutters a little, then he stiffens as he comes.

Justin follows him shortly after, spilling himself over his own hand.

“So what do you say?” Justin asks when Brian has pulled out, trying to clean up the mess with a Kleenex.

“You can’t ask me that when I’ve just pulled my cock out of your ass.”

“As least then you’re listening to me.”

Brian sits down next to him, reaching for his cigarettes. “You really want to do this?”

“I didn’t say we should do it right now. Maybe we can just talk about it at some point.” Justin reaches for the lit cigarette and takes a long drag from it, coughing a little on the exhale. “Now that we’re exclusive…”

“I already have a kid.”

“You have a teenager,” Justin clarifies.

“Who is freakishly tall. Not sure he’s actually my son.”

“All the more reason. Look, I’m not saying I’ll go run to find ourselves a surrogate tomorrow or anything like that. All I’m saying is… let’s think about it.”

Brian looks at him, taking the cigarette back to have a drag. “You and me… a family.”

“Ridiculously romantic, isn’t it?”

5
Brian wakes up to Justin looking at him. “Can you be less creepy until I have my coffee?”

“No.”

“Why are you staring me awake?”

“Because.”

“Is it Christmas yet?”

“No.”

Finally, Brian turns away from Justin and away from his immediate scrutiny. “Stop looking at me.”

“Marry me.”

Brian’s shoulders stiffen a tiny bit before he relaxes again. “Yeah, okay.”

+1
“She’s coming.”

“Who?”

“Your daughter, Justin Kinney. Susanna is about to give birth to your fucking daughter.”

So good! You captured Brian's snark, and Justin's mother hen perfectly! I love when I read something and it's so true-to-character that I can hear the scene play out -- that totally happened here, so definitely NOT OOC at all! Great job!! (and I hope you like your fic!)

Thank you so much!
I was really worried about this. I haven't written anything for this fandom in almost a year, so... glad you enjoyed it :)
